Full-Time Specialty Doctor in General Surgery with specialist interest in Breast Surgery
An opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor to join NHS Dumfries and Galloway’s General Surgical Department for a fixed term period of 12 months. The successful candidates will join a dedicated and high performing clinical team consisting of ten Consultants, four (including these posts) Specialty Doctors, surgical trainees, FY1 doctors and nurse specialists. The Department of surgery provides a comprehensive elective and emergency general surgical service for the Dumfries and Galloway Region (population 150,830). The postholder will support the provision of theatre, outpatient and endoscopy sessions. Experience in General Surgery to participate in the out of hours rota is essential. Dumfries is located in the South West of Scotland and a wide range of sporting and outdoor activities are available as well as cultural and other facilities. Single accommodation could be provided initially. DGRI Future Re-development It is an exciting time in Dumfries and Galloway as a new District General Hospital is being built, due to open in winter 2017. Redesign of services at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary is currently underway. Work has commenced on the NHS D&G ‘new build’ hospital based on the western outskirts of the town. This new build will ensure NHS Dumfries & Galloway staff are able to continue to provide high quality clinical care to the population of Dumfries & Galloway in a modern environment.
